With the popularity of Harley Davidson Street glides increasing every single year, it’s no wonder why there has suddenly become such a high demand for custom parts and accessories for these particular motorcycles, as well as other similar models too for that matter. Thanks to various aftermarket specialists, manufacturing their products in the U.S, using the finest quality ingredients, motorcycle owners can now afford to customise and accessorise their motorcycles, without having to pay OEM prices, which is an incredibly big difference. One such product that is proving hugely popular is raked fairing, which is why we’ll be taking a look at the advantages and disadvantages of raked fairing for street glide bikes. Here we’ll be taking a look at what makes this raked street glide fairing for Harley street glides so beneficial when compared with what is known as a “naked” bike, plus a look at a possible drawback or two of this particular style of fairing. They improve the aerodynamics of the bike – Obviously this is an advantage, and truthfully it’s a pretty big advantage as well as raked fairing for street glide motorcycles has been proven time and time again to greatly improve the aerodynamics of the motorcycle, making it faster, more streamlined, and more fuel and energy efficient. Simply put, the performance gets a fantastic increase thanks to the raked fairing, which is a massive advantage for any keen biker.

They look great – Another advantage is the fact that these various fairings and fairing kits look great and can really help to improve the aesthetic appeal of your street glide. The great thing about these fairings is that they improve the appearance of the street glide, without actually altering the appearance all too much. The minute you clasp eyes upon it, you know you’re looking at a street glide, so the fairings allow them to keep their identities, whilst improving their look and appeal at the same time.  XL-1200N-Nightster

They can be tricky to fit – This is a disadvantage though if you arrange for them to be fitted by an expert you needn’t worry about a thing. Aftermarket fairings are far cheaper than OEM parts, but if you’re trying to save money, you must remember that unless you’re an expert and highly skilled and knowledgeable with bikes and mechanics etc, you will have to pay somebody to fit it for you. Fitting it yourself will save you money, but it can be tricky and time-consuming so you must be patient and you must know what you’re doing.

With the weather now finally improving, spring is most certainly in the air which means it will soon be biker season. That means that if you consider yourself a keen biker, you can head into the garage, dust off your two-wheeled pride and joy, fire up the engine, and head out onto the open road and blow away the cobwebs, physically and metaphorically speaking. If you’ve owned your motorcycle for a while and feel like a change, or even if you’ve purchased one used and wish to create the style and finish that best fits you, you can consider painting your motorcycle. A roadstar custom bagger motorcycle for example, is decidedly easy to paint yourself, if you’re confident and if you know what you’re doing. If you feel as if your custom bagger roadstar could benefit from a lick or two of paint, here are a few handy tips to help you out.

Create a “spray booth” – If you’re spraying your motorcycle at home, in your garage or in an area outside with plenty of shelter, create a spray booth. By this, we’re basically talking about an area where you will spray your cycle. Wrap furniture or fittings in plastic sheet to protect them from the paint, make sure there is fantastic lighting, and set up a fan to blow the fumes away if you are painting in a garage.

Strip your cycle – Next up you will want to strip down your roadstar removing any of the parts that you’re planning on painting. Set them all aside, and possibly even label smaller items if you’re not sure where they belong.

Sand and prime – Unless you’ve purchased new aftermarket parts with a coat of primer already applied, you will next have to sand down the parts you’re planning on painting, using sandpaper and a little elbow grease. Make circular movements on the surface, and really rough it up. Next, wipe down the surface, and apply two coats of primer. The roughed up finish will ensure that the paint adheres to the surface you’re planning on painting. After both coats of primer have been applied and dried, again, gently sand down the surface and wipe away any dust particles, this will ensure the paint will stick perfectly.

Paint your parts – Now for the fun, and most crucial part of your endeavour, the painting. Ensure your paint gun is perfectly clean, add the paint and mix as required, often with a thinner, and then gently apply the paint to your motorcycle parts, slowly and carefully. Apply three to four layers, making sure each layer is dry before adding the next one.

– To finish up, once the paint is dry, apply two coats of clear lacquer which will protect the paint and give everything a nice glossy finish.

In times of recession, financial crisis, and ever increasing costs of day to day living, we understand as well as anybody, the sheer importance of saving as much money as is humanly possible. We save money in a number of different ways: some of us give up the things we enjoy, some of us cut back on luxuries, and some of us simply go without and suffer and struggle for weeks, months, even years in some cases. In reality, saving money doesn’t need to be that hard, and if you know what you’re doing, it can actually be far easier than you may have ever imagined. Even our vehicles can cost us a lot of money, and in reality a lot of vehicular expense can often be avoided. If you own a motorcycle, let’s say a street glide perhaps, you can actually save yourself a great deal of money in the long run, both on the running costs and the maintenance costs as well. If you’re looking to save money but refuse to give up your street glide as it’s your pride and joy, here are a few handy tips for making your motorcycle more economical and cost efficient.

Get it serviced regularly – You may think that getting your bike serviced regularly, even when there is no visible signs of trouble, is a waste of money but in reality getting your bike serviced regularly by a professional is one of the best ways of prolonging its life, keeping it in the best possible condition, and therefore saving you money in the long run. You may think that paying to get it serviced when it possibly doesn’t need one is a waste, but servicing will keep it in fantastic shape, and paying for a service is going to be far cheaper than having to purchase a new exhaust system or engine if your current one decides to break due to overuse. You should always look at the big picture when it comes to motorcycles, and this is a great example as to why.

Fit custom parts to your bike – By fitting certain custom parts to your motorcycle, you can not only help make your bike look fantastic, but you can also save a great deal of cash in the long run, by improving the fuel efficiency of your bike. By going with a street glide stretched rear fender kit, you can help make your bike more streamlined and can therefore reduce drag. This stretched rear fender street glide kit can be purchased cheaply on the aftermarket, and as it improves the performance of your bike, it also improves the fuel efficiency, so you spend less on fuel in the long run.

Keep your tires perfect – Another great way of reducing wear and tear on the engine and making your bike far more fuel efficient, is to keep your tires in perfect condition. Keep them inflated just right, not too much, and not too little. Check the tread depth, check the rubber, check everything, and if something is wrong with them, don’t leave them, get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

Think of a supercar and the first word that immediately springs to mind for many of us is Ferrari. Ferraris are without question some of the most popular makes of supercar and are popular by keen motor vehicle enthusiasts in countries all across the globe. The great thing about Ferraris is the fact that as there are so many different models out there, in reality, owning a Ferrari is not as difficult or as expensive as you may have thought, especially if you for slightly older models and pre-owned vehicles in great condition. Once you are fortunate enough to purchase your dream Ferrari, if you’re not entirely happy with something, or if you would like to make it unique and add your own personal stamp to it, you could go ahead and customise it. Though Ferraris do look great, sometimes a little subtle change here and there is all that required to take the car from looking great, to looking amazing. Here’s a basic guide for customizing your Ferrari.

Ferrari F430, F430 430 Spider Rear Diffuser Spoiler – Carbon Fiber

Change the diffuser – One very popular modification that tends to made to a number of different model of Ferrari is to fit a new diffuser to the vehicle. F430’s for example, look great with a new carbon fiber Ferrari f430 diffuser as this diffuser can really enhance the entire look and feel of the vehicle. As the Ferrari f430 carbon fiber diffuser is indeed made from carbon fiber, the performance of the vehicle is actually improved due to the lightweight and sturdy construction of the material. If possible, always go with carbon fiber products as it is a superior product that makes a world of difference.

New wheels – This is somewhat controversial as some people will say you should leave Ferrari wheels as they are but in reality as you’re the owner of the vehicle, you do with it as you see fit. That means that if you’re not happy with the current wheels, or if you’ve found a new set of alloy wheels that you feel would look great on your car, you go ahead and you get them fitted. Make sure you keep the old wheels safe and in great condition as you may require them if you do intend on selling your Ferrari later in life.

Ferrari 458 Italia Front Bumper Cover

Vinyl wrapping – If you’re not happy with the current paint and body work of your Ferrari, and feel it would benefit greatly from a re-spray, don’t be so quick as a full-body re-spray will cost you a small fortune, especially for a Ferrari. A great alternative is to go with a full-body vinyl wrap instead. Vinyl wraps are installed by trained experts that basically wrap the car in a special material in the colour of your choosing, that looks identical to a new coat of paint. You could go with black, or the trade mark Ferrari red, and what’s more is the fact that the vinyl protects the body against stones and chippings. It can also be peeled away and easily removed when required, and as it is far cheaper than a re-spray, it’s no wonder why vinyl wrapping is so popular.

Though Harley Davidson motorcycles have been around for literally decades upon decades, the Vrod muscle motorcycle is actually pretty new, at least by Harley Davidson standards. Developed by Harley to compete with American and Japanese muscle bikes, which were, and still are, vastly popular at the time, not only did the Vrod muscle compete with these other muscle bikes, in all honesty it destroyed them and quickly became the most popular muscle bike on the market today. This particular motorcycle featured liquid cooling, fuel injection, and overhead cams, which was a first for Harley. These new features went down a treat and Harley enthusiasts fell in love with the bike almost immediately. The main difference between this bike, and other Harley motorcycles, is the location of the fuel tank, which is located underneath the seat of the bike, unlike on other Harleys, where it is located further towards the front. If you own a vrod muscle Harley Davidson, you can upgrade and improve the look and performance of your bike without spending big money, which is another reason why it is proving so popular. Here’s a look at a few of these simple upgrades.

Replace the rear fender – Replacing the rear fender of a vrod muscle bike is relatively simple and cost effective if you know what you’re doing. A vrod muscle rear fender can easily be sourced, will come ready primed, so all you will need to do is apply the paint, and install it. If you’re confident and know what you’re doing, you can install the vrod muscle rear fender yourself but if not, taking it to a professional won’t cost much as it will be a very simple job for them. By replacing the rear fender with a brand new one, the appearance of the bike is improved greatly, as is the handling and the performance as well.

A new air filter – If it’s power you’re looking for, something as simple as replacing the air filter on your motorcycle will help give you a few extra BHP which can actually make quite a bit of difference. You can find a variety of different vrod muscle parts easily, including air filters and air intakes. Last year, air filters were some of the most popular vrod muscle parts sold to Harley owners, and they reported a noticeable improvement in not only the performance of their bike, but also in the handling as well.

New suspension – Motorcycles do take a bit of a beating whilst out on the open road, especially over rough terrain or roads in poor condition. Having great suspension can make riding a motorcycle so much more enjoyable for the rider, which is why it’s recommended that you install new suspension to your bike, especially if the ride is especially bumpy and jolty. Air suspension kits are ideal as they will provide comfort and a smooth ride for the rider, which not only makes riding the bike more comfortable and enjoyable, it also keeps the bike in better condition, so there is less chance of it suffering damage as a result of pot holes or other obstacles in the road.
