, and general aftermarket Harley parts, are basically parts that have been specially designed by independent companies, to fit vehicles in exactly the same way as OEM parts and accessories would, with the added bonus of being much cheaper. Quality aftermarket parts are just as good, if not better, than OEM parts, all except for the fact that they don’t feature a specific logo, which in turn makes them more affordable. As aftermarket bagger parts are so popular however, more and more companies want in on the action, which is why finding quality suppliers is harder than you may have initially thought. Here’s a look at a few handy tips on finding a quality aftermarket supplier.

Look for US-based factories – First and foremost, one of the first things you will need to enquire about, when trying to find a quality aftermarket supplier, is where their factories are based. If they are based in the US, you know that the materials used, and indeed the workmanship, is going to be of the best quality, because the US has much stricter rules and regulations that other parts of the world, such as India or China.

Here’s a look at 4 benefits o 4″ extended & stretched Harley bags and fender for Harley Davidson touring.f choosing aftermarket parts for your Harley.

They’re affordable – Arguably the biggest benefit associated with choosing Harley Davidson aftermarket parts is the fact that these parts are so incredibly affordable. If for example, you were on the lookout for a new fender, or new fairings, purchasing OEM parts would cost you a small fortune. Aftermarket Harley Davidson parts however, cost a fraction of the price and look and function just as well, if not better in fact, than OEM parts and accessories. If you own a Harley but are still on a budget and are looking to make your money go a long way, aftermarket parts are absolutely ideal. 6″ carbon fiber extended and stretched saddlebags and fender for touring models 89-13

They’re very well made – Another benefit of aftermarket accessories and parts is the fact that, because they are now so incredibly popular, they’re becoming more and more well made with each passing day. Many professional aftermarket specialists use top quality materials including fiberglass and carbon fibre to create their products, which means that when they’re purchased and fitted, not only do they look fantastic, but they also function incredibly well and, with a little care and attention, will last a lifetime.

There’s so much choice – As mentioned, because these parts and accessories are proving so popular lately, there is now a great deal of choice available, meaning that finding your ideal Harley part or accessory has never been easier. Greater availability – Another benefit of aftermarket parts and accessories for Harley Davidson motorcycles is the fact that there is a much greater availability rate for aftermarket parts, as opposed to OEM parts. For example, if you were to go to an OEM provider and request an original part or accessory, there’s a good chance that they would not have the item in stock, and would have to order it for you, meaning that you would probably have to wait several weeks before you got your part. With the aftermarket however, more often than not, you can order exactly what you want, and have it arrive on your doorstep a day or two later with no fuss whatsoever.

Bikers that are on the road a lot – For bikers that find themselves out on the open road a lot, bagger bikes could prove absolutely ideal for so many different ways that it would take forever to list them all. To begin with, for individuals that are out on the open road a great deal, you’ll need a bike that is reliable, and bagger bikes are widely regarded as some of the most reliable bikes currently available, because they were mechanically designed to cover long distances. The main issue that travellers have with motorcycles, is a lack of storage space, because if you’re heading out of town for several days, you’ll need to take luggage with you, which is difficult on most standard motorcycles. Bagger bikes however, get their name because they’re equipped with saddlebags and additional luggage space, so you can easily fit a great deal of luggage in which will then keep you going for several days/weeks.

Those that appreciate older bikes – For people that aren’t impressed with incredibly loud and highly dangerous superbikes that go ridiculously fast, bagger bikes will seem far more appealing. The bagger style of motorcycle has been popular for decades upon decades, and is seemingly timeless in the process. For those that appreciate the finer things in life, in terms of motorcycle perfection, there are few examples which compare to a Harley bagger.

As far as popular designs and styles go, bagger bikes, made famous by Harley Davidson motorcycles are fantastic examples, though the main issue here is that they’re considered to be so expensive. However, thanks to aftermarket beggar parts, creating your very own beggar bike has never been easier, which is why the beggar aftermarket is currently thriving better than ever. Bagger aftermarket parts provide inexpensive ways of taking a generic looking motorcycle, and transforming it into a thing of beauty which will make other bikers vastly jealous. The aftermarket beggar industry is now thriving better than ever before, and if you’re looking to take advantage of this and transform your bike into a beggar on a budget, take a look at these handy tips.

Fairing –  When it comes to the fairing, beggars have a distinct look, especially thanks to various styles such as fork mounted options, full fairings, bat wings and everything in between. When going for the trademark and unmistakable bagger look, it is recommended that you always go with a batwing fairing which will really help get the ball rolling and will immediately make a huge difference to the overall appearance of your bike.

The saddlebags –  Now we come to the stars of the show, because no bagger bike would be complete without saddlebags. Choose the right saddlebags based on the look, style, and design of your bike, on top of your own personal preferences of course. You can go for hard or soft saddlebags, often with attractive studded leather finishes. Many aftermarket bagger parts actually come ready primed so you can paint them to match the colour of your bike.

With more vehicles on our roads now than ever before, it’s safe to say that vehicle ownership is obviously on the rise, and for very good reasons too. Our vehicles are our main lifelines, they get us from A to B, they take us to work, to friends, to the gym, on vacations, and various other locations, and best of all, they come in a number of different varieties. For example, motorcycle ownership is on the increase, and if you’re a self-confessed Harley lover, you’ll be very pleased to hear that the number of Harleys on our roads is also steadily increasing week by week. The problem with Harleys and other popular brands, is that finding parts and accessories can be tricky, especially if you happen to be on a budget and perhaps need something a little more complex than just simply a new rear fender sticker. Custom Harley fairings for example, could set you back a small fortune if you go the OEM route, as these parts, not to mention Harley fatboy parts, street glide parts, bagger parts, and much more besides, do tend to get a little pricey, and that’s before you even factor in fitting costs. If you’re on the lookout for cheaper fatboy Harley parts, like the Harley custom fairings, or saddlebags perhaps, you may wish to go the aftermarket route. If you do however, to ensure you don’t get scammed or ripped off, here are a few things to look for in professional aftermarket companies.

Professionalism – To start with, if you are looking for an aftermarket company to spend your money with, the first thing you should look for is professionalism. For example, take a look at their websites and social networking pages and see how they interact with the general public. If they’re rude, obnoxious, or inappropriate, that is not how business is done and so that may speak volumes about the company in general. Look at the website, is it well-made and well structured? All of that counts and makes a difference.

Quality of the parts – If possible, take a look at examples of the parts they list and the materials they use. Do they use flimsy and cheap materials, or do they use top quality materials? How do the parts look? Do they look cheap or do they look as good, if not better, than OEM parts?

Customer satisfaction – Above all else, one of the best ways of ensuring that you yourself don’t get ripped off or bitten in the butt is to look for companies with great customer satisfaction. If most of their customers are happy, chances are that when you become a customer, you too will be happy. Read reviews, ask on forums for possible feedback, and find as much info as you can.

custom harley parts
For many Harley owners, once the initial joyous feeling of being able to own a stunning piece of real American history begins to wear off and fade with the hands of time, to help them rediscover their passion for these fantastic machines, Harley owners tend to customize and upgrade their motorcycles. If you yourself are a proud Harley owner but feel that perhaps your Harley could use a little sprucing up and TLC, you may wish to begin customizing your bike, perhaps making it a winter project so that it’s ready for the next biker season. Custom Harley parts and accessories are not necessarily difficult to get a hold of, providing you know where to look. Harley bagger custom fairings for example, are now readily available and look great, and can make a huge difference, as can all of the various other Harley custom accessories and parts you can now easily source. Before you begin customizing your Harley however, there are a few things that you should consider first, before rushing into things.

Do you really want to change your bike? – Remember, although any changes you make to your bike can be reversed if you so wish to do so, in order to reverse them, you will need to spend a great deal more money, not to mention even more time and effort. For that reason, never rush into any hasty decisions. Remember, this is a piece of US history you’re dealing with, a cultural icon, so if you’re not sure whether or not you wish to fit, or remove, your custom Harley bagger fairings or saddlebags, then take a little longer to have a think about things. Never rush the process and instead take your time.

Can you do most of the work yourself? – If you’re a handy mechanic, either privately or professionally, you’re already at an advantage because you can probably do most of the work yourself. Having to pay somebody else to do the work can leave a bitter taste in the mouth, not just because of the money, but because you lose a sense of the satisfaction from if you’d done it yourself.

Do you have the time and the money? – Customising and upgrading a Harley is not necessarily a cheap, or quick job. You can save money substantially if you choose aftermarket parts but even so, you still need cash, not to mention the time to do the work yourself. For example, if you work during the week, working on the bike in the evening will be tiring, leaving just weekends, which means you can’t do anything else. It’s all about finding the right balance of time and money, and if you struggle for both, perhaps you may be better off waiting.

custom bagger kits

Owning a motorcycle, especially a Harley Davidson, is fantastic, until that is, that something goes wrong with it, or until you decide that you wish to make some changes. Then, all of a sudden, life becomes slightly more stressful and disappointing, because you then realize that if you are to go with brand new OEM Harley parts, you’ll need to take out a second mortgage on your home to be able to afford them. Ok, that may have been a slight exaggeration, but finding cheap Harley parts is like finding a winning lotto scratch card – very difficult. Getting Harley parts cheap may be difficult, but when you know where you’re looking, and when you’ve learnt from the best, it’s still very achievable indeed. If you know where to look, and indeed what to look for, you can grab yourself fairing kits, saddlebags, custom bagger kits, and pretty much anything else you can ever think of. For the budget-conscious amongst you, here are a few handy tips you may wish to consider.

Compare prices – If you are on the lookout for bagger custom kits, or fairing kits for example, just remember that the first product or kit you come across, isn’t necessarily going to be the cheapest. Before you commit to any purchase, instead, keep looking and see if you can find the same product for less.

Don’t be duped by shipping costs – Another great tip you may wish to consider, is to be wary of shipping costs, as some companies will use these costs to make a profit. They may offer a certain product or kit for considerably less than their competitors, so naturally as their price is the cheapest, more people will use them. However, they will then charge ridiculous prices for shipping, which won’t be displayed until you’ve entered all your details and have wasted time creating an account etc. You’ll then be shown that the new price you pay will be far more than you thought, due to the shipping costs. Most people, after having wasted so much time creating an account and entering details etc, will simply click ‘proceed’ because they can’t be bothered to do everything again on another site.

Search for reputable aftermarket companies – Finally, the last great way of not only saving money, but of also obtaining a superior product in the process, is to search for reputable aftermarket companies. Look for companies that look professional, with great feedback, that use quality materials and actually operate in the U.S, rather than outsourcing to locations such as India. These companies, if chosen correctly, are godsends for people looking for quality whilst still on a budget.

Thanks to the sheer popularity of the aftermarket, motorcycle owners all across the globe are benefitting hugely in regards to finding not only replacement parts, but also custom parts and accessories like Harley custom saddlebags or various custom Harley fairing kits and such like, all for fantastic prices. When compared with OEM parts and accessories, nowadays the general consensus is that many OEM parts are nothing more than a rip off, meaning that customers pay well above the odds, not for the quality of the product at all, but rather for the label and brand itself, which is especially obvious when dealing with OEM Harley parts. If you were to purchase a set of OEM custom Harley saddlebags from Harley Davidson dealers, you would pay an absolute fortune for a product that, whilst being good, is still no better than any other saddlebag. The same goes for Harley custom fairing, body kits, accessories, and much more. As far as purchasing aftermarket parts however, as the competition is so fierce, you need to ensure you find the best possible parts, which is where we come in. Here we’ll be taking a look at a few handy tips to help you find the best possible aftermarket parts for your vehicle.fairing for softail

Consider the materials used – When buying aftermarket parts, one of the first things you should do to ensure you’re getting the best possible deal is to look at what kind of materials are being used for the products. Avoid cheap plastics and shoddy materials and look for quality materials such as carbon fibre or fibreglass instead. If you find a company offering products made from quality materials like those we just listed, chances are that the products they supply will be of the best possible quality, which is exactly what you’ll be looking for.

Read reviews Another great way of ensuring you’re buying the best possible products is to take the time to read reviews of various companies and products, left by previous customers. Once you find the part you’re looking for I.E Harley custom fairing, if on a website, click the product and see if anybody else who bought the product has reviewed it, and if so, what they have to say about it.

Look at examples of parts and products Remember, not all aftermarket parts have to be purchased online, as some of them can be purchased from various garages and suppliers. If there’s one near to you, ask to see the parts up close and personal, or perhaps ask to see examples of them fitted on other bikes. If looking online, although you won’t be able to gain as much information, look at images of the parts and see if they’re what you may have been hoping for.

Here we’ll be taking a look at what makes this raked street glide fairing for Harley street glides so beneficial when compared with what is known as a “naked” bike, plus a look at a possible drawback or two of this particular style of fairing. FLHX-Street-Glide

They improve the aerodynamics of the bike – Obviously this is an advantage, and truthfully it’s a pretty big advantage as well as raked fairing for street glide motorcycles has been proven time and time again to greatly improve the aerodynamics of the motorcycle, making it faster, more streamlined, and more fuel and energy efficient. Simply put, the performance gets a fantastic increase thanks to the raked fairing, which is a massive advantage for any keen biker.

They look great – Another advantage is the fact that these various fairings and fairing kits look great and can really help to improve the aesthetic appeal of your street glide. The great thing about these fairings is that they improve the appearance of the street glide, without actually altering the appearance all too much. They can be tricky to fit – This is a disadvantage though if you arrange for them to be fitted by an expert you needn’t worry about a thing. Aftermarket fairings are far cheaper than OEM parts, but if you’re trying to save money, you must remember that unless you’re an expert and highly skilled and knowledgeable with bikes and mechanics etc, you will have to pay somebody to fit it for you. Fitting it yourself will save you money, but it can be tricky and time-consuming so you must be patient and you must know what you’re doing.

With the weather now finally improving, spring is most certainly in the air which means it will soon be biker season. That means that if you consider yourself a keen biker, you can head into the garage, dust off your two-wheeled pride and joy, fire up the engine, and head out onto the open road and blow away the cobwebs, physically and metaphorically speaking. If you’ve owned your motorcycle for a while and feel like a change, or even if you’ve purchased one used and wish to create the style and finish that best fits you, you can consider painting your motorcycle. A roadstar custom bagger motorcycle for example, is decidedly easy to paint yourself, if you’re confident and if you know what you’re doing. If you feel as if your custom bagger roadstar could benefit from a lick or two of paint, here are a few handy tips to help you out.

Create a “spray booth” – If you’re spraying your motorcycle at home, in your garage or in an area outside with plenty of shelter, create a spray booth. By this, we’re basically talking about an area where you will spray your cycle. Wrap furniture or fittings in plastic sheet to protect them from the paint, make sure there is fantastic lighting, and set up a fan to blow the fumes away if you are painting in a garage.

Strip your cycle – Next up you will want to strip down your roadstar removing any of the parts that you’re planning on painting. Set them all aside, and possibly even label smaller items if you’re not sure where they belong.

Sand and prime – Unless you’ve purchased new aftermarket parts with a coat of primer already applied, you will next have to sand down the parts you’re planning on painting, using sandpaper and a little elbow grease. Make circular movements on the surface, and really rough it up. Next, wipe down the surface, and apply two coats of primer. The roughed up finish will ensure that the paint adheres to the surface you’re planning on painting. After both coats of primer have been applied and dried, again, gently sand down the surface and wipe away any dust particles, this will ensure the paint will stick perfectly.

Paint your parts – Now for the fun, and most crucial part of your endeavour, the painting. Ensure your paint gun is perfectly clean, add the paint and mix as required, often with a thinner, and then gently apply the paint to your motorcycle parts, slowly and carefully. Apply three to four layers, making sure each layer is dry before adding the next one.

– To finish up, once the paint is dry, apply two coats of clear lacquer which will protect the paint and give everything a nice glossy finish.
